OldRoll, an app known for retro camera looks, has a free photo editor that runs in a web browser. The editor lets people give photos the feel of old digital cameras, film, VHS tape and more.
The site says it works on desktop and on mobile, and nothing needs to be installed. You pick a photo, choose a look, adjust it and save the result.
The filter list is long. Digicam gives bright direct flash and cool shadows. Y2K adds low-resolution texture and a pixel-style date stamp. The 90s filter brings warm yellow tones and faded color, while Film adds fine grain and soft highlights. Others include Black & White, Polaroid, Dreamy, Sunset, VHS, Vintage and Grain.
You can also change the picture itself. The page lists controls for exposure, contrast, warmth, saturation and lens blur, plus cropping. There is a way to compare the edit with the original, and you can set how strong the effect is.
Beyond filters, OldRoll offers film frames, flashes, grain, light leaks and stickers. A collage tool lets people place one photo or several in a grid or strip layout. Backgrounds can be solid, gradient or textured.
The company names several groups it has in mind: content creators, photography fans, online sellers, music creators, anime creators and people who make Y2K, street or lo-fi visuals. For sellers, it says the edits can warm up product photos while keeping the item easy to see.
The site also have OldRoll app. It lists more than 50 million downloads, a 4.7 out of 5 App Store rating from over 6,000 ratings, and a 4.3 out of 5 Google Play rating from over 213,000 reviews. It also says it has edited more than 2 billion photos and videos and was featured by Xiaomi.
