Edi Life OS, a self-hosted life dashboard, adds an MCP server so AI assistants can use it

A new open-source project called Edi Life OS puts habits, goals, Kanban boards, finances and a focus timer in one self-hosted dashboard. An optional MCP server lets AI assistants such as Claude read and update it.

Edi Life OS is a self-hosted dashboard that brings habits, goals, tasks, money and focus time into one place.

The pitch is simple. Many people split their lives across a to-do app, a habit tracker, a budgeting spreadsheet, a Pomodoro timer and a notes app, and none of these talk to each other. Edi Life OS tries to combine them in one private dashboard.

According to the project, it has ten workspaces that share one design, one sign-in and one database. The pieces are also meant to connect. Habits feed into goal progress, Kanban cards appear in the calendar, and an Overview page turns everything into a single daily score.

It is built to run on any PHP and MySQL host, including cheap shared hosting. The project says there is no subscription, no tracking and no vendor lock-in. Vendor lock-in means being stuck with one company's service because moving your data out is hard.

The AI part is an optional MCP server. MCP, short for Model Context Protocol, is a standard way for AI assistants to connect to outside tools and data. The project says its server exposes 26 tools covering the dashboard, goals, tasks, habits, finances and notes.

It can be connected to Claude Desktop, Claude Code or any other MCP client. The project gives example requests you could type in plain language. One is "Show me my LifeOS dashboard." Another is "Mark Reading complete for today." A third asks the assistant to log a 450,000 Toman food expense and show the balance.

Another example asks the assistant to create a SMART goal called Build a home studio, due in three months, and add a task called Buy acoustic panels. SMART goals are goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound.

The project describes a few of its workspaces. Growth covers six life dimensions linked to long-term goals, SMART goals, habits and tasks, with guided weekly, monthly and quarterly reviews. Focus offers Pomodoro sessions with breaks, a built-in soundtrack and a landscape that follows the time of day.

Habittify tracks small daily habits, streaks and a seven-day view of consistency. Kanban offers boards with labels, priorities, due dates, checklists, comments and attachments.
